Have you ever wanted to take to an open field, run full steam, leap, tumble, scream, rip your shirt off, smile, then spill down the hillside, rolling in utter joy? All those humdrum days of getting up early for work/school can wear on a person, so I'm sure every single one of us would love to just unwind like that every now and then. The perfect sounds to accompany such a wild romp in the weeds would for sure be Weekends' Strange Cultures. The music on this LP is magical like that. When I play this album never have I ever wanted to let loose so much. Baltimore's Adam Lempel and Brendan Sullivan (as well as Rob Girardi who masterfully mixed and mastered this gem) have put together a series of songs that rip guitars and echoes and massive beats. It sounds like an AK-47 shooting rainbows onto a downpour of thick rain. It sounds like freedom. A unabashed stream of uncharted rock that sounds like it could exist in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, or right now... wait it does exist right now... I'm glad, because I'm friggin' in love with this
